Some welcome news from Switzerland.
Steam train trips over the Brunig Pass will resume in July, after a gap of more than 10 years.
Last month, HG 3/3 #1068 returned to service, following a successful restoration at the Rhatische Bahn (RhB)'s Landquart workshops, after the fire which severely damaged it, and G 3/4 #208, at the BDB's Interlaken Ost workshop several years ago.
After spending decades on a plinth at Meiringen station, this will be the first public run by #1068 since the 1960's.
The Ballenberg Dampfbahn has also taken a new name as the Brunig Dampfbahn, in recognition of the abandonment of the proposal to build a steam heritage railway from Brienzwiler into the Swiss Open Air Museum.
